DTrace is an instrumentation tool introduced within Solaris 10 kernel by Sun Microsystems and also has been open sourced as part of OpenSolaris project. Since then, this tool has also been ported to other OS’es like FreeBSD and Mac OS X.
In recent times, DTrace probes have been made available within Apache, PHP/Ruby and MySQL engines allowing web programmers and web-masters to peek inside their web deployment infrastructure like never before.
This session intends to: a) quickly walk you through basics of DTrace. b) introduce you to probes within Apache, PHP and MySQL engines and what you can do with these probes. c) showcase the ability to dynamically trace a Drupal based website using very simple DTrace scripts.
