The Maritim proArte Hotel Berlin features 403 rooms, apartments and suites and each are equipped with a large writing table with optimum lighting, a cosy television armchair, 3 phones, fax connection, satellite TV, video, radio, mini bar and safe. Distinctive bathrooms of Carrara marble and Black Amethyst Granite complete the guest rooms.
The spacious lounge radiating artistic flair is an ideal place for a meeting and for holding talks. The indoor pool with dry and Turkish sauna, solarium and fitness room enable guests to recover for the following day's program. Guests may end their day in the elegant Checkpoint bar after having enjoyed our "tastefully" served delicacies in one of two restaurants, Restaurant Galerie and Restaurant Atelier, or the bistro.
Making Reservations
To make a hotel reservation, please call the Maritim proArte’s reservation center at 0049 30 20 22 4410 or info.bpa@maritim.de. Please reference “Rails Conference 2008” when contacting the hotel.
Guest Room Rate: €177,00 for single room or €188,00 per night for a double/double room. A full Maritim breakfast buffet is an additional €22,00 per person. (Please note: the conference will not be providing breakfast)
The cut-off date for the group rate is 18 July 2008. Reservations received after 18 July 2008 (or after the room block sells out, whichever comes first) will be honored on a space-available at the prevailing rate of the hotel. All rates are single or double occupancy, traditional room.
Please provide 72 hours' notice when canceling your reservations to avoid deposit forfeiture or penalties.
Room Sharing
If you are looking to save money on your housing costs, you may wish to room-share. The RailsConf wiki contains a Room Sharing page where you can post information about yourself along with the type of room sharing situation with which you are most comfortable. If not comfortable with posting your info, simply peruse the listing of others looking for room sharing situations who you can contact.
Getting There
By Plane:
From Tegel Airport (10 km): Take the shuttle bus to Friedrichstrasse Station, located across the street from the hotel.
From Tempelhof Airport(5 km): Take the Underground line 6 to Friedrichstrasse Station, located across the street from the hotel.
From Schoenfeld Airport (30 km): Take the City Rail to Friedrichstrasse Station, located across the street from the hotel.
United Airlines

By Car:
Take the A 10 to the Drewitz Triangle, A 115 to the Funkturm Triangle, leave the motorway at the "Zentrum" exit. Drive along Bismarckstrasse, Strasse des 17, Juni, Unter den Linden, Friedrichstrasse/Maritim proArte hotel (enter from Dorotheenstrasse 63.)
By Rail:
The Friedrichstrasse Station is opposite the hotel. The Main Station is 3 km away, take the City Rail to Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse.
Entry Requirements and VISAS
For EU and US citizens, a valid passport is needed to travel to Germany. Passports must be valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay. Travelers must also have tickets or documents for onward travel.
For non-EU and non-US citizens, please check with the Germany embassy or consulate in your country to learn the visa requirements for travel to Germany. Your visa application may require a letter of reference from O'Reilly Media, Inc. proving you will attend RailsConf Europe. Please contact confreg@oreilly.com if you need such a letter. We advise you to apply for a visa as soon as possible.
