Engine Yard's Open Source Love Affair
Engine Yard was founded in 2006 to help deploy, manage and scale Ruby and Rails applications. We built our company with a focus on supporting and cultivating the Ruby and Rails community and ecosystem. Over the years we’ve worked with numerous groups and individual developers to produce a constant stream of community activity and progress.
From sponsoring and speaking at conferences and hackfests, to helping start and fund user groups, we’ve been all over the world helping build the community. We fund numerous full time developers working on key projects including Rails, Ruby, Rubinius, and JRuby, and are constantly trying to give back however we can.
In this talk, we’ll cover some of Engine Yard’s primary community contributions and talk about why, and how, you and your company can roll up your sleeves and get involved.

Engine Yard
Evan is the lead developer of Rubinius, a high performance Ruby VM. For the past few years, he’s worked full time on Rubinius, thanks to Engine Yard. Working on Rubinius began as a labor of love in 2006 after reading about other programming language environments and a desire to improve the language he loved, Ruby.

Evan, I just watched the video online. (couldn’t hear much from where I was) was pretty good. I was laughing out loud. Great job.
