Building Native Mobile Apps with Rhodes
Rhodes is the only Ruby-based smartphone app framework for rapidly building native applications for all leading smartphones (iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian). During this session, attendees will learn how developers can leverage their web development skills to build cross-platform native applications that take full advantage of the device’s capabilities (contacts, camera, GPS) and eliminate the need to develop specific applications for each mobile OS.

yes, I delivered a fairly vendor neutral smartphone best practices talk with some coverage of Rhodes and RhoHub at the end. It was a bit of a mixup that the “product talk” was advertised. Please come by the booth for Rhodes/RhoHub development demos
from the description: ”...attendees will learn how developers can…build cross-platform native applications that take full advantage of the device’s capabilities (contacts, camera, GPS)...” Unfortunately this was not covered. Perhaps more time could have been focused on writing Rhomobile code instead of mobile UI best practices.
This was a pretty good session at the end of the presentation, but there was way too much time invested into fairly obvious “best practices” and too much time spent on what “not” to do.
Would have been cool to have been more focused on Rhodes, RhoSync, and RhoHub sections / uniquenesses / differences. And even better would have been focusing on the differences between CSS / different mobile platforms as well as the new features coming in the current beta release.
Keep up the great work Rhodes!
