Thanks for the suggestions. I love the lightning talks too. Maybe next year we’ll expand. We’ve tried doing more sessions before and the later days can get kinda anemic. I’m thinking a longer session would make sense.
With a three day conference of 1600 people it feels less than excessive to allow for one 50 minute session of just-in-time short-format presentations each day. It lowers the barrier to entry for new speakers, allows a talk that might not need 50 minutes on it’s own, and still allows exposing your idea to a full room of RailsConf attendees.
+1 on Andres suggestion for more LT’s There should be one each day of the conference. It’s also a great way to end a day (before the evening keynotes). They surveyor guys did a great job!
The one about open democracy was really moving. I also vote for more time for LTs in the future.
more time for lightning talks (perhaps another session) would have been appreciated
