12 Hours to Rate a Rails Application
We’ve all found ourselves in situations where we had to evaluate very quickly what the quality was of a Rails codebase. In some cases it’s to evaluate an acquisition, in other cases to put an estimate on maintenance and evolution of an existing application.
My talk will describe how to smell out, in one day, hour by hour, whether there are any pain points, where they are. The points to pay attention to:- the team
- what to look at to quickly understand the workings of the application
- an extended look into the use of metrics
- the database
- current deployment of the application
- sample code reviews
Based on my own live experiences in doing this.

Jabberwocky
After her studies in metallurgy, Elise realized job in that area were not her cup of tea, and she looked for jobs in an earlier interest, software.
Since then, she’s been rolling through jobs in C, C++, Java, a master in AI, before falling in love with Ruby and going freelance. 10 years of software have helped her get a firm understanding on what works, what doesn’t, and what will make you cry bloody tears on nights before deadlines.
She’s a jack of all trades, loves reading, tinkering, food, travel, learning, and people out of the ordinary.
