Senior Programmer, Australian Medical Council

I work as full-time Rails developer. The current project I’m working on is a replacement of a legacy system that is used to manage the AMC’s multiple choice questions database. This system is used to generate exams for testing international medical graduates as part of their application to practice in Australia. The challenge of this project is to understand how the legacy VB system works and to recreate it as a new Rails app, keeping the good bits and ditching the old, importing and restructing the legacy data, and introducing the business and stakeholders to the concept of agile development.

I’m quite interested in testing, particular Cucumber and RSpec. I use a great plugin for Cucumber called Pickle and I recommend to everyone! I’m also keen to take Rails 3 for a spin.
