There’s a growing world of websites, APIs, mashups, and Ruby gems that are bringing the data of our government out into the open, and it has never been easier or more important to start contributing. OpenCongress.org, the NY Times Congress API Ruby gem, and Sunlight’s 50 States legislation project are just a few examples.

At this session, you’ll learn about these and other projects from all over the community—and then get to hacking on them. Or, if you’ve got your own open government idea, come and share it with a group of passionate hackers who can help it take shape.

Sunlight Labs is part of the Sunlight Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to transparent government.
