Asia on Rails

BoF
Location: D137

Rails although has made great inroads in to the North America and Europe has found limited usage in the Asian region (Except Japan). One of the ways, we think Rails could create interest in the Asian region is by starting out a RailConf Asia 2009 or some kind of a mini Rails conference once a year. I would imagine this would be a conference on the same lines as being conduct ed in US and Europe. I would like to invite all interested participants in making this event happen. We can discuss the feasibility of such an event. Although, Rails has gained huge popularity in Japan, but it has not come to the notice of the people in the Indian sub continent and some other part of Asia. We would like to discuss ways in which we could make Rails a more popular platform.

In the Asia region there exist a number of companies supporting the Rails framework. These companies have different areas of expertise. This BOF could serve as a way where companies could find potential partners and leverage the expertise of others located in the same geographic region. We would also discuss some of the kind of applications for which Rails is being used. This would serve as a very good learning experiences for all individuals.
