Scaling Ruby from the Inside Out
Now that Ruby on Rails is almost 4 years old, most of the deployment issues have stabilized. Many of you will be familiar with the vast array of different webserver options for running rails applications. We will cover the new Open Source Engine Yard stack that has many man years of production Rails deployment experience packed into it.
We will examine common Ruby performance problems and how to fix them, how to get a ‘feel’ for abstractions that are expensive and those that are cheap. The attendees will come away with vital information that will help them avoid problems with scaling their Ruby applications.
We will also cover Rubinius, a new virtual machine for running Ruby and Rails applications that aims to ease most of the problems with MRI.
Covering all of these issues as one cohesive whole will give people a very good overview of the Ruby ecosystem and how bright the future looks for Ruby in the enterprise. Attendees will come away with some solid knowledge of how to scale ruby from the inside out.
