This tutorial will cover
  • The Eclipse Update Manager and its use to install existing plug-ins
  • The project wizards that set up a new Plug-in project with all the right parts in place to write your own plug-in
  • How to write plug-ins that provide a new button or menu to the Eclipse workbench
  • How to write plug-ins that can do analysis on your source code
  • The manifest and how it specifies Eclipse extensions – using the manifest editor as well as how the XML is generated – sometimes you may need to edit the XML yourself.
  • How to export your plug-in into a distributable jar or zip file
  • How to create an update site and post it, so others can install your plug-in from the Update Manager
  • Writing help for your plug-in

Great tutorial. Walked me through so I had the confidence to go home and do it on my own. Didn’t seem to slow down the people who clearly knew more than I did. Would take something from her again.
