Dojo is a popular industrial strength JavaScript toolkit that dramatically simplifies building great web applications. This 3 hour tutorial provides an intense introduction to all of the “good parts” of the toolkit by Dojo sensei Matthew Russell—author of the popular book Dojo: The Definitive Guide and “Ajax Bootcamp” trainer for the Big Nerd Ranch.
Although the tutorial will start out with “Ajax 101” topics, the pace will quickly pick up as more advanced topics such as Comet (Reverse Ajax), 2D vector drawing, the powerful data grid, unit testing, mixing Dojo with other JavaScript toolkits such as YUI, and optimization considerations for production are introduced.
The bottom line is that anyone attending this tutorial will develop a greater appreciation and acquire abilities for building great user experiences on the open web. The tutorial will be run very much in a “labs style” session where almost the entire 3 hours will include demonstrations built from scratch in real time with short breaks dispersed for attendees to work on “challenge exercises” in the spirit of a labs style environment.
