collectd and rrdtool, Building Blocks for AMP Monitoring and Visualization
This session intends to showcase the power of collectd and rrdtool to build a monitoring solution for the OpenSolaris Web Stack (an AMP stack). collectd, a system statistics collection daemon, helps you to collect and store monitoring statistics while rrdtool, a data logging and graphing system for time series data, helps you to generate nice graphs.
This session will include:- a quick walk-through of the basics of collectd and rrdtool
- a discussion of our experiences with using these tools to build a monitoring sub-system
- a demo of the Web Stack Enterprise Manager
