The Symbian tutorial is the ideal place to gain insight and hands-on experience with the Symbian Mobile Platform using Runtime tools including Web, Adobe Flash Lite, and Python, as well as an introduction to native C++ development.
This session will be packed with technical content, hands-on programming exercises and sample code. This session is designed to provide a learning experience that is intensive and technically stimulating. The focus is on delivering programming information and sample code that you can put to good use right away.

Native: Regan Coleman is co-founder of Xenient , a U.S.-based partner of Symbian, providing SymbianOS consulting, application development, and training. Regan has a BA in Applied Math from Harvard University. He can be reached at regan_coleman@xenient.com.
Python: Herb Jellinek is a technology consultant specializing in designing and building software for mobile devices. He has expertise in Java, Python/PyS60, and many other languages, platforms, and API’s. Following a long stint at Xerox PARC, Herb was a member of the original Java team and the architect of Sun’s PersonalJava. He’s got 10 US patents and two charming children to his credit.
Web Runtime: John Kern is a Member of the Technical Staff at the Symbian Foundation. He has two decades of experience in software industry with a wide variety of roles and has been involved in mobile for over five years. He organizes the Silicon Valley Symbian Programming SIG which presents monthly talks on programming Symbian devices.
The first 60 attendees will receive their very own unlocked Nokia 5800 device.
Lars Kurth is the Contributor Community Manager at the Symbian Foundation. Lars has built strong open source experience and a relationship with the Eclipse community through his previous role as tools architect and owner of the training strategy at Symbian. Lars has 15 years of industry experience in the tools and mobile sector, ranging from embedded and mobile tools to parallel computing tools. Larshas worked in various roles in ARM, Symbian and Nokia: from product manager, chief architect, engineering manager and as software developer.

This was a most informative session with excellent examples, and exactly what I had hoped for and expected…. EXCEPT …
I did not expect to be the recipient of a brand new phone, which was a really awesome surprise. I knew there were some phones up for grabs, but did not realise I would be so lucky.
