PostgreSQL has much to offer today’s developers who has been charged with creating applications for Web, embedded, data warehousing, OLTP, geo-spatial, and other environments. Developers will find many flexible options at their disposal with PostgreSQL no matter what language or IDE they choose to use. This session will give developers a quick tour of the development side of PostgreSQL so they have a solid understanding of what’s available to them and why they should look at PostgreSQL for their next application development project. Topics covered include:

  • How to create stored procedures and functions in Java, Ruby, C, Python, Perl, and other development languages that run within PostgreSQL
  • Using PostgreSQL code debuggers, SQL diagnostics, and other community supplied troubleshooting aids
  • Advanced SQL support in PostgreSQL
  • Geo-spatial development in PostgreSQL
  • How to use free PostgreSQL supplied middleware to create architectures that support automatic load balancing and failover
  • How to use PostgreSQL-supplied connectors and drivers
