MySQL replication deprivation is a common condition that occurs when you encounter problems built-in MySQL replication cannot solve. Do you need automatic master promotion, ability to replicate to PostgreSQL or Oracle, multi-master/multi-source replication, parallel slave apply, or built-in consistency checking? These are just some of the useful features of Tungsten we will cover in this hands-on tutorial. We’ll start with Tungsten Replicator, a fast, open source, replicator that solves a wide range of MySQL data replication problems. You will learn about the following:

  • Tungsten Replicator architecture including replication pipelines, log formats, and administrative tools
  • Installing and bringing up Tungsten replicator
  • Using admin commands to perform master failover, slave provisioning, and recovery of failed masters
  • Checking data using built-in consistency checks
  • Configuring replication services to replicate from many masters to one slave or do multi-master updates
  • Increasing performance using Tungsten’s parallel replication features
  • Applying filters to modify transactions in-flight or implement time-delay replication
  • Tying in backups
  • Replicating data to non-MySQL databases

Finally, we will conclude by showing you how Tungsten Enterprise builds on Tungsten Replicator to create full data management solutions with automatic failover, zero-downtime upgrade, and SQL load balancing. Please join us and do your part to end replication deprivation!
