The main idea is to present our MySQL usage at GitHub. Highlight a lot of the growing pains we experienced, where MySQL has held up well and how we’ve built on top of it for various performance needs. We use Redis and are hoping to start using Riak in the coming months so it would be cool to present how we use those tools on top of mysql as well as our extensive caching mechanism.
I feel like people should be able to walk away from the talk and understand that MySQL is a great decision for a new application and won’t necessarily need to be thrown away if people have to deal with scaling issues.
