Will detail how we migrated from a nfs-backed, sharded, mysqld installation on 5.0.44 to a sas RAID 1+0, 15x resharded, 5.1 partitioned mysqld installation:

  • What caused us to rethink this architecture
  • Immediate tuning to improve short-term performance
  • Testing potential options for long-term re-architecting
  • Implementing new configuration
  • Migrating old data
  • Maintaining partitions and planning for future growth

That was quite a surprise! Thanks for attending. I’ll post the slides somewhere soon since no one really had a chance to see them.
