The MySQL performance team is involved in almost all of the aspects of MySQL usage at Facebook. This includes topics such as performance tuning, query tuning, diagnosing database stalls, capacity planning, backup/recovery, and new deployment planning.
This talk with present a broad overview of many of the problems experienced from running MySQL at a large scale and the solutions used at Facebook for them. Many of the open source tools we use in our MySQL deployment will also be discussed.
Harrison is member of Facebook database performance team. He has worked before for over 7 years at MySQL AB and Sun Microsystems as a Trainer, Consultant, and Staff Support Engineer.
He has also co-authored a book, MySQL Clustering.
Domas Mituzas is database engineer at Facebook and volunteer Wikipedia performance and data engineer.
He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Wikimedia Foundation.
