No matter what type of programmer, sysadmin or database administrator you are, it will be extremely beneficial for you to have some understanding of Perl. Perl and MySQL, and now Drizzle, are a natural fit and extremely easy to use to write database applications and tools. This session is for any type of developer—whether you love Perl or not. This session will cover:
The speaker will draw upon some of his insights he gained while recently authoring his first book “Developing Web Applications with Apache, MySQL, memcached, and Perl”. The goal of this session will be to leave the developer or database administrator with a new appreciation for Perl.
Patrick Galbraith is a senior systems and database administrator at Blue Gecko. In his “spare time”, he maintains DBD::mysql, DBD::drizzle, FederatedX storage engine and the Memcached Functions for MySQL. He has just authored “Developing Web Applications using Perl, Memcached, MySQL, and Apache”. Patrick lives up in the sticks of New Hampshire with his wife Ruth, and for a hobby is part owner of a local wireless Internet provider, Radius North.
