Learn to use Flexviews, a stored procedure and PHP based materialized view solution for MySQL. Flexviews is an open source set of tools for creating and maintaining materialized views. Materialized views are also known as summary tables, or aggregate tables. This talk will show how to install Flexviews and take advantage of summary tables to improve your application performance.
Flexviews is a unique materialized view toolkit for MySQL. An open source project started in 2008, it has generated interest from various MySQL community members since its inception, even getting mention in Mark Callaghan’s keynote last year.
This talk will explain at a high level how Flexviews works, and will then dive into how you can create specific views to improve performance for both OLTP and OLAP type workloads.
Materialized views are essential for BI/OLAP and data warehousing environments.
