The Aspersa System Administrator's Toolkit
This talk is a guided tour of Aspersa, a set of tools that helps DBAs and systems administrators to turn numbers and statistics into knowledge. There is an incredible amount of data available about your system and what it’s doing—this toolkit helps you sift through it with specifically targeted tools. One example is an I/O profiler, which can show you where a process spends its time doing I/O at the level of individual files. We’ll see how to actually use these tools and solve real problems, such as:
- Are my two MySQL servers performing roughly the same work?
- What is the bottleneck in my multi-threaded C program?
- My slow query log is 60GB. At what times does the log show anomalies in the database’s performance?
