Solid-state technologies are changing the way that MySQL users think about running their databases. Database administrators are discovering that the combination of the open source software solution and the TCO savings associated with the radical performance enhancements, reliability improvements and reduced energy and real estate costs of solid-state technologies are leading to changes in the way their datacenters look and how their MySQL servers perform.

This panel, moderated by Sumeet Bansal, Principal Solutions Architect of Fusion-io, the provider of application-centric, solid-state technologies, will include the following experts who will speak on:

  • Ryan White, Cloudmark – Ryan will discuss how his net security firm substantially reduced its datacenter footprint while increasing protection against phishing, spam and viruses for more than a billion mailboxes;
  • Dan Marriott, Answers.com – Dan will discuss how solid-state technologies allowed Answers.com to achieve 900 percent more queries per second without database slowdown and reduced the IT overhead of his database clusters by 75 percent;
  • Vadim Tkachenko, Percona – Vadim will discuss the dramatic results of his organization’s independent testing of solid-state technologies and what he believes will be the next steps in the solid-state revolution;
  • Jeremy Zawodny, Craigslist – Jeremy will discuss how Craigslist sees solid-state technologies as an indispensable element in the datacenter of tomorrow and how his company is leading the charge toward that future.

The moderated panel discussion will make clear to audience members the benefits of solid-state technologies, both from a performance standpoint and in relation to TCO. Q&A with the panel to follow.
