This session is all about SSDs. In the first half of the session, I’ll show basic performance numbers of HDD, Intel X25-E and Fusion I/O. Basic performance means (concurrent) random reads, random writes, sequential writes, fsyncs, ext3 vs xfs, etc. SSD specific issues such as write performance deterioration will also be covered. In the second half of the session, I’ll present about SSD deployment strategies for MySQL, for example:
Yoshinori Matsunobu is a Principal MySQL Consultant at Sun Microsystems, living in Tokyo. Yoshinori leads MySQL consulting services in Japan and APAC. He has experience in all aspect of MySQL consulting, especially Performance Tuning, High Availability, Scaling Out, MySQL Cluster, and I18N. Yoshinori joined MySQL KK as a Senior MySQL Consultant in September 2006. Before joining MySQL, Yoshinori worked for SONY for 5.5 years as a solution architect. Yoshinori has written eight MySQL related technical books so far and has published technical articles about MySQL, Linux, and Java for a monthly database magazine since 2004.
