InnoDB has always been highly efficient, and includes several unique architectural elements to assure high performance and scalability. InnoDB Plugin includes several new features that take better advantage of recent advances in operating systems and hardware platforms, and permit users to better control the use of some InnoDB internal subsystems to achieve the best performance.
Calvin Sun is the senior manager of InnoDB team at Oracle. He joined the InnoDB team in early 2008. Prior to that, Calvin was a development manager at MySQL, managing MySQL storage engines and 3rd party storage engine vendors relationships. He has over ten years of database development experience, mostly on various storage engines. Calvin currently lives in Austin, Texas.
Jimmy is a member of the development team at Innobase/Oracle. He has over ten years experience in RDBMS storage engine development. Prior to InnoDB, he manages the Index and DBA Commands teams for Sybase Inc.
John Russell is the documentation lead for InnoDB. Before joining the InnoDB team, John was Information Architect for the Oracle Database group, where he developed the Project Tahiti documentation search engine. In the 20th century, he was Information Architect for the DB2 Database group, where he originated the Information Center and lead several User Centered Design initiatives. His writing background is focused on application development and programming languages (PL/SQL, Oracle Objects, C++, Fortran, and Ada), and his documentation architecture work involves Python, Perl, and XSLT.
