Full-text search in a MySQL database is a frequent task pretty much everyone faces, and Sphinx helps you create a basic implementation quickly and and easily. However, to use Sphinx to its full potential you’d also need to know its full capabilities, and so we’re covering the most recent major new features in this talk. For instance, you’ll learn how RT indexes work internally and what to expect of them; in what cases to use optimized hitless indexes and how to do that; how new features simplify making your searches execute in parallel; how would you go about avoiding hitting database at all; and so on.
Andrew is the author of Sphinx, an open-source full-text search engine designed especially for indexing databases.
