The InnoDB Plugin and its derivative XtraDB were added variable options/patches
for performance tuning, based on the discussions among InnoDB experts in the world.
The most of the options can optimize performance for multi-core and large memory servers,
RAID storage with many HDD, or much faster storage like SDD.
This session describes such new options and fixes based on ‘SHOW ENGINE INNODB STATUS’ outputs.
And you can see the real effects from the benchmark results.
So, you might be able to judge whether the builtin-InnoDB is enough or not for your systems,
or tune InnoDB Plugin and XtraDB correctly for your server and workload.
And, the tuning of the unusual processing (such as recovery from crushing) are also mentioned.
The next problem to be fixed or tunable in the future may be introduced, if I will have enough time remain.
Yasufumi Kinoshita is Performance Engineer of Percona Inc., developed patches to improve InnoDB scalability and IO subsystems in these years.
He is main developer of XtraDB and XtraBackup.
