This session introduces you to the easy, powerful, and free Cacti graphing tool. You’ll learn how to install it (simple!), how to configure it (simple!), and how to set it up to collect a huge variety of data about your MySQL server’s performance (simple!).
The resulting data is easy to graph, so you can see visually how your server’s performance has changed over time. Suppose you just released a new version of your application. How did that change things on the MySQL server? It’s easy to tell with Cacti. Just open up a web browser and glance at the graphs. You can see all sorts of things, including how many full table scans the server is performing, how many rows it’s sorting, and much more.
