Felix Schupp
General Manager, SoftMethod GmbH
Felix is the founder of SoftMethod GmbH, and is the initiator of the BlackRay project. BlackRay is an innovative, fully relational in-memory database system designed to offer performance features commonly associated with search engines. It offers fulltext search, function based indexes, JDBC/ODBC via Postgres drivers as well as object oriented APIs. BlackRay is available under the GPLv2.
Right after graduating with B.Sc in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University, Felix founded PhysicianPal Inc., one of the first pure web-based billing providers for healthcare in California. He currently serves on the boards of the EIDQ and the Open Database Alliance (ODBA) and is a frequent speaker at Open Source congresses worldwide.
When he is not traveling or coding, Felix enjoys snowboarding, hiking and getting some wind in the sails of his 1962 dragon “Sonnenschein”.
