When creating complex reports, sometimes is necessary to manipulate the data coming from the database, implementing custom datasources or scriptlets. A different approach is to leverage the RDBMS capabilities like Stored routines (procedures and functions) introduced in MySQL 5.0. The BOF walk trough how to use MySQL stored procedures in JasperReports, which type can be used by default and when you need and how to create a simple report query executer to fully leverage the procedures power.
