Falcon is designed from inside out to run best on the future generations of servers where the number of cores approach the number of concurrent threads. This presentation will describe those design characteristics and how they allow Falcon to scale with increasing numbers of CPUs, clients, and threads. We will show performance results showing this positive scaling on powerful multi-core servers, which are becoming more and more commonplace. We will also describe the major design features which allow Falcon to scale this way.
Kevin Lewis is the Falcon Team Lead and has been working on the Falcon database engine within MySQL for nearly three years. Before that, Kevin worked for 10 years as a Lead Developer for the Pervasive.SQL Microkernel, which is the storage engine for Pervasive’s Btrieve and SQL products.
