Attendees will be introduced to NitroSecurity’s NitroEDB for MySQL (N4M) storage engine, and shown a few simple steps for migrating an existing MyISAM table to an Nitro table. In particular, this presentation will illustrate how to use N4M’s MySQL DDL extensions to transform a demonstration MyISAM table create statement into an N4M table create statement that uses several performance enhancing features of N4M. The N4M features illustrated will include index batching, time differentiated sub-fields, index SUM aggregates, index file sets, and fine grain memory management. MyISAM and N4M performance measurements will be compared for the demonstration table running on a commodity computer system. The presentation will conclude with a description of a production system that uses the demonstrated features, along with the newly released NitroEDB time partitioning feature, and its associated performance measurements.
