Maatkit is a set of tools that helps MySQL users and administrators fill otherwise unmet needs. The toolkit is absolutely packed with functionality. This session will teach you how to get your daily work done faster, safer and smarter.

Maatkit’s documentation is thorough and accurate, but documentation is only part of the story. It tells you what each feature of a tool does. This session approaches Maatkit from another angle: “I have to do X with my server. How can Maatkit make it easy?” Tasks we’ll cover include:

  • Ensuring slaves have the same data as masters
  • Re-syncing data efficiently on slaves
  • Creating a delayed slave
  • Finding objects and executing commands on them
  • Data ETL, archiving and purging
  • Dumping and restoring data in many threads at once
  • Piping EXPLAIN through a filter to make it more readable
  • Productivity tips such as how to get Maatkit tools quickly
