Introduction to Common MySQL HA Solutions available.

  • What do we want to do?
We want to make sure our database is there – all the time!
  • What can we use to take us there
Depending on our application, hardware platform, budget and how possible it is to change the application code; we have several options that will apply to the specific solution that we choose. Naming our options: MySQL Cluster, MySQL with Linux HA, and possibly DRBD
  • What’s good and bad with the solutions presented (MySQL Cluster, MySQL w/Linux HA and DRBD)
Application changes? New application development? Do we need the complicity? Will we benefit from that particular solution? What will that solution give us – pros/cons? Will performance increase with that particular solution? Penalties?
