This session will describe why and how to create interactive OLAP applications using MySQL Enterprise and the Mondrian OLAP Engine.
A dimensional data model and an OLAP engine can empower your business users with the ability to interactively analyze business data in a self-service fashion.
Building these kinds of applications on MySQL Enterprise includes a number of design considerations relative to performance, security, and end-user access.
The session will also include mini case-studies on how organizations like Loma Linda University Healthcare, BNSF Logistics, and Unionfidi analyze and optimize their businesses using open source OLAP.
Finally, this presentation will include a brief overview and demonstration of Mondrian 3.0.
Julian Hyde is Pentaho’s Chief Architect for OLAP, and the founder and lead for the Mondrian OLAP project. He has nearly fifteen years experience in data warehousing, having served as a senior engineer at Oracle in the kernel group, as well as founding Broadbase software.
