Memcached Functions for MySQL are a new project marrying Brian Aker’s new libmemcached client library with MySQL using the user defined function API (UDF). These allow you to build applications that don’t require application code to implement read-through or write-through caching with Memcached. These functions allow you a one-stop location for interacting with both MySQL and Memcached, being able to read or write data from both MySQL and Memcached in single queries. You can even use memcached UDFs with triggers to have automatic caching and management of Memcached.
This discussion can cover how these functions can be used and how a developer can take advantage of them. Also there will be a question and answer session where developers can ask any questions about these new functions.
