Developers may enter their apps in one of two categories:
Five apps from each category will be selected to present at AppNite, and the top app in each category will win a Dash Express two-way Internet-connected GPS navigation device.

Dave McClure has been geeking out in Silicon Valley for almost twenty years as a software developer, entrepreneur, startup advisor, angel investor, blogger, & internet marketing nerd. Dave is the conference chair for Graphing Social Patterns, and a co-chair for Web 2.0 Expo. He has been a guest lecturer at Stanford University for the nation’s first-ever course on building Facebook Apps.
Previously Dave launched and ran marketing for job search engine Simply Hired in 2005, and before that Dave worked at PayPal as Director of Marketing, where he launched the PayPal Developer Network program in 2001. Prior to PayPal Dave was a database consultant and programmer for several companies including Microsoft and Intel, and in 1994 he founded Aslan Computing, later acquired by Servinet/Panurgy in 1998.
Before coming to Silicon Valley, Dave barely graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a BS in Mathematical Sciences Engineering and a minor in frisbee, billiards, and foosball. For more info see Dave’s blog: Master of 500 Hats
